Vodka

Vodka is a distilled liquor, which is usually colourless and does not often have a noticeable taste or aroma. Many of the world’s most popular vodkas come from Russia, Poland and Sweden but we have offerings from some of the finest distilleries in Ireland and these are excellent choices of the finest quality. Vodka can be produced from anything that contains starch or sugar, including potatoes, sugar beet molasses and grains. The word ‘vodka’ comes from the Russian word ‘voda’, which means water. This suggests the clear and tasteless liquid we commonly know as vodka, which has been popular as an alcoholic drink since the Middle Ages.

Vodka is often used in cocktails since it usually has a neutral flavour, and is a staple in popular recipes such as the Cosmopolitan, the Bloody Mary, the White Russian and the Screwdriver. It mixes well with fruit juice or lemonade, and the Greyhound cocktail is an excellent choice that combines tart grapefruit juice with quality vodka to make the perfect cocktail for you to enjoy with brunch.
