Currach Single Malt Mezcal Cask Edition

Description

This is a ‘tale of two terroirs’ – Malted barley from the South East of Ireland meets Espadin agave from Mexico.

This Reposado Mezcal is made from 100% Espadìn agave, left to ferment for 48 hours, then cooked in the traditional stone oven. (Reposado Mezcal is aged between 2 and 11 months in oak barrels)

Our casks are seasoned with this Reposado Mezcal and finished for 3 months before bottling. The Mezcal cask adds earthy mineral, citrus and faint smoke aromas to the roast coffee, dark chocolate and umami notes of Currach Kombu.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet earthiness, chalky minerality, touch of spice and a whiff of smoke.

Palate

Lemon verbena, rust and distant damp smoke are balanced by notes of salted caramel, Robusta coffee bean and dark chocolate.

Finish

Pleasant earthy tartness progresses to a persistent sweet maritime umami finish.
